Vacature Full-stack data analyst

Who we are

We are an organization that makes a difference. We are committed to strong workers' rights beyond national borders. Together we fight for fair wages and safe working conditions through a supply chain approach. We unite for a fair world, with equal opportunities for all. As a full-stack data analyst you will work in the Fair Work Monitor (FWM) team together with enthusiastic colleagues in the Netherlands and from the different regions of Latin America, Asia and Africa.

About the Fair Work Monitor (FWM)

CNV Internationaal created the FWM in 2021: a powerful worker’s survey tool that enables unions to collect data directly from workers on their working conditions. Workers fill in a survey, easily and anonymously, on a tablet or phone. Local unions can then use this data to know if workers earn a living wage and if they have safe working conditions, and if they don't, local unions can use the data to negotiate better working conditions, realize living wages and improve safety and health.

Until now, the FWM has been implemented in the textile industry, and in the mining, palm oil and in the sugar supply chain. To further develop the FWM we are looking for an ambitious database administrator with experience in dashboard design and data analysis who wants to make a difference for workers in the supply chains.

What you will do

As a full-stack data analyst, you will further develop the database management system, including the database and its dashboard with the ability to cross-reference data and develop reports and publications on specific topics. You will work with the FWM project lead and an enthusiastic team of professionals in the Netherlands, Latin America and Asia.

Your work will be varied and dynamic, involving multiple countries and close collaboration with diverse teams. One day you might manage the database with Dutch colleagues; another day, analyze data on forced labor in mining and cross-check with the ILO database. You could assist our Latin American team in preparing data collection, or work with the communications team to effectively present data on living wages in the sugar cane sector.

Who are you?

You are a person who has strong database administrative skills, is flexible, thrives in dynamic environments, and is also pragmatic when solving issues. Someone who likes to use their skills to improve working conditions and strengthen the interests of workers beyond national borders. Although you are a data expert, you like to work with others with various backgrounds, because you believe that data combined with working together across multiple disciplines enables a bigger impact. You have a thorough understanding and experience with PowerBI as a visualization and reporting tool, knowledge of other visualization and business intelligence tools are welcome.

Part of your tasks will be :

• Maintain and develop the database management systems (Data Warehouse) and the FWM dashboard (PowerBI), in collaboration with the CNV IT department.

• Improve and manage data quality and reliability by implementing operational standards, developing workflows, and data pipelines.

• Enhance database security and privacy policies to ensure data safety and accessibility.

• Organize and translate survey data into concrete data models for the dashboard.

• Coordinate the connection between our data warehouse and other data platforms.

• Perform (statistical) data analysis & datamining, comparing our own data with sectoral data and due diligence standards (e.g., Bonsucro, RSPO, ETI, and IRMA), propose data analysis strategies, working with thematic data analysts and supporting local FWM teams.[EvA2] [MB3] [MB4]

• Support the FWM team by conveying technical concepts in non-technical terms and preparing data for various purposes (e.g., lobby, communications).

• Develop graphs and conduct analysis with the communication department for internal use and external parties (academia, NGOs, trade unions, data providers, journalistic platforms).

Profile / You have:
